State of the Writer
This is the post I planned on writing for my blog, but a couple of stories from my newsfeed distracted me. Okay, they sent me off on a tangent that led to me getting on my soapbox. So I thought I’d come here and update everyone on the current state of the writer. The short answer is I’m tired (after all, I haven’t had nearly enough of my daily coffee ration) but life is as good as it gets these days. Better yet, I’m not only writing but I’m planning ahead for future projects.
On the writing front, I identified a major issue I was having with Surtr’s Fury and have been doing the necessary edits and updates to correct the problem. The writing is going well and the novel should be heading out to beta readers in another 10 days to two weeks. Yay! Because I haven’t finished setting up the financial part of this site, it means I’ll continue posting snippets on the public side of things for the near future. (Okay, I admit, my paranoia makes it difficult for me to send images of ID, etc., to some unseen entity. But I’m working on it and it will get done shortly.)
I have also been playing with both Midjourney AI and Leonardo AI to get new cover images for the Nocturnal Lives series as well as upcoming titles. I have always hated doing covers because that’s not where my talent lies. But I’ve had a lot of fun with these two programs and I think the potential is there for some interesting—and hopefully good—covers to come about. In the meantime, they have offered some great images I use for inspiration.
So, what am I looking at in the way of upcoming releases?
Surtr’s Fury
Designation: Frejya
Vengeance of the Gods (Sword of the Gods series)
Sequels to Danger Foretold (Eerie Side of the Tracks) and Fire Striker (Tearing the Veil)
I also have three new titles in the Nocturnal Lives/Nocturnal Awakenings series plotted out as well as general notes on a new series in the Honor & Duty universe.
Of those, Designation: Frejya is written. It’s been sitting on the back burner so I can look at it with fresh eyes because something has been bothering me about it and I haven’t been able to figure out what.
Surtr’s Fury is almost complete. Same with Vengeance of the Gods. It is drafted out and needs refining at this point. I have a rough draft for the sequel to Fire Striker and detailed notes on the sequel to Danger Foretold.
If that isn’t enough to keep me busy, I also have a few other ideas percolating in the back of my mind. I’m going to try to keep them on the back burner while I finish out the above projects because, realistically, I’ve already got two years’ worth of work ahead of me as it is.
Anyway, that’s the state of the writer. There will be a new snippet of Surtr’s Fury tomorrow morning. Have a good day, everyone!
