I like the cover generally. The vibe is good, and if Checkovs' gun is present the story will be interesting.
Useless observations about the cover: the midground man is twice as tall as he should be, the fence posts wouldn't vary in height so much unless they weren't in a line, though these may not be, the MCs hands have a thumb and 3 fingers, or 4 fingers and no thumb, her natural waist is a little too high, and for visual identification purposes, the oversize Maine Coon cat :-) should have white ear tips, longer back legs, a larger chest ruff, and maybe a small white or lighter tail tip. Thanks.
The image is bad. Like most AI generated images that you don't spend hours working on. Which I didn't. I simply input a description and ran with it so I'd have something. I saw most of what you picked up on and a couple of other things. It's a good example of why we shouldn't rely exclusively on AI apps/programs for our covers.
Looking at the cover again, the shadows should be sharper and darker, as they are being cast by a lightning bolt, and if the cat is not reacting to the lightning / thunder, it should be looking fiercely (ears turned forward, eyes almond shaped and sparking) at whatever she is reacting to / looking at.
You are right, family comes first, and I commend you for this. I am also amazed that you can even focus enough to continue writing!!! With the various crises and trials in my life, I usually have to forego even making journal entries. Prayers for you and your Mom. God bless you
Thanks. As for being able to write, it's my way of coping. It doesn't come easy at times like this and it isn't always good--which is why this book is going through an additional round with the beta readers. But if I don't write at least something every couple of days, my stress level goes through the roof and that's not a good thing right now.
I read that it was an AI approximation of a cover design, and that you gave a cover artist chosen. Thanks for your response and clarification. Thanks too for taking time from your apparently overwhelming life to respond so quickly. I hope that your mother is better soon, and that the rest of your life sorts out properly.
Looking forward to the snippets and the new book.

You take care and hang in there.

John, I appreciate the comments, truly. It gives me something to tell the cover artist to reinforce my own concerns. Thanks too for the good wishes.
Glad to see you posting. We often think of you when we drive through your town.
Give a shout when you come through. If I'm not busy with Mom, we can grab a coffee or lunch.
